William Herbert McCartney was an engineer for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad killed in an a wreck on January 12, 1901 in the Alberene branch of the James River Division in Albemarle County. McCartney was a resident of Charlottesville and left behind a wife and four children. [1]
