History
Walton Middle School was founded in 1974 in rural southern Albemarle County. The school was named for Reverend Leslie H. Walton who, as pastor of the Scottsville Baptist Church, introduced Scottsville to the Boy Scouts of America program in 1908. In 1937, Reverend Walton became principal of the Scottsville School and would go on to be the superintendent of Albemarle County Public Schools.[1]
Student misconduct
In the 2012-2013 school year, 12 students were suspended for alcohol possession, fighting, theft and using inappropriate language. In response, county officials named Rick Vrhovac to be assistant principal.
