WVTF Public Radio is a National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate located in Roanoke, Virginia that operates several frequencies in the Charlottesville market.
In 1990, WVTF added a full-power repeater in Charlottesville, WVTW (88.5). This frequency now broadcasts the Radio IQ service. [1]
In 1997, the station a transmitter to better serve western Charlottesville, WVTU (89.3) This transmitter also serves Staunton and Waynesboro. This frequency now carries the main WVTF signal. [2]
In 2009, the station opened a satellite radio studio on Water Street in the basement of developer Bill Atwood's Waterhouse project.
