Trax, located off West Main Street and named for its proximity to the railroad tracks,[1] was a Charlottesville nightclub made famous for being one of the early venues to host the Dave Matthews Band.[2] Opened in 1982, it was purchased by Michael Duchesneau in 2001 and reopened under a different name.[3] Trax was again purchased on July 1, 2002 by the University of Virginia for $1.2 million, and ultimately demolished to make way for the University of Virginia Medical Center.[4]
