Background
The firm was hired by both communities as consultants for major projects at the turn of the century. Charlottesville hired the firm to produce a corridor study that informed a rezoning in 2003 which upzoned many properties. [1]
Albemarle County hired the firm to study the potential of mixed-use zoning to promote walkability in a process called the Development Area Initiatives Study. [2]
That resulted in the Neighborhood Model District zoning being adopted by the Board of Supervisors.
