The Central Gazette was Charlottesville's first newspaper. It was published weekly from 1820 to 1827. [1] [2]
Background
C.P. and J.H. McKennie began publishing The Central Gazette on January 29, 1820. The weekly paper ceased publication in July 1827. [2] T
The publication evolved into the Virginia Advocate.
