  • 1935 – Three-fourths of the University of Virginia Hospital’s supply of radium, a highly radio-active compound, which had gone missing was recovered in a trash can.
  • 1965 – A concert by the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra is the very first event to be held at University Hall – a new 8,457-seat multi-purpose arena on the grounds of the University of Virginia.
