- 1773 – Dabney Carr, aged 29, died at Charlottesville of bilious fever. Married to Thomas Jefferson's sister, his was the first grave which Jefferson laid out as a family burying ground. TJ was buried here in 1826.
- 1923 – Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, the Kiwanis Club, the Young Men’s Business Club and the League of Women Voters met this afternoon in the office of the Chamber of Commerce to discuss the new Hog Ordinance recently proposed by the City Council.
