- 1779 – By a narrow margin on the second ballot the General Assembly elected Thomas Jefferson governor of Virginia to succeed Patrick Henry. Jefferson won a second one-year term the following year. He took office well into the Revolutionary War, at a time when enthusiasm for the cause had waned.
- 1890 – The official population count of the returns made under the Eleventh Census. The total population of the City of Charlottesville was 5,591; while the population in 1880 was 2,676, an increase during the decade of 2,915 - or 108.93%
- 1948 – James E. Bowen Jr. succeeded Seth Burnley as Charlottesville's interim City Manager.
- 2023 – Charlottesville Tomorrow's board of directors gave Cvillepedia to the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library for continued stewardship.
