Stringfellow Barr was an editor of the Virginia Quarterly Review who took over the editorship on October 1, 1930. [1]

Upon his becoming a professor at UVA, Barr took over the courses in European history from Dumas Malone (who had priorly been encumbered with the entirety of the history curriculum which spanned from the ancient to modern era).
