In 1986, the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County and the University of Virginia agreed to coordinate planning for areas where all three jurisdictions had some interest in the outcome. These areas are called Area "B" and are called for under the Third Party Agreement. One of these areas is the Southern Urban Area "B" Study, and includes University and County properties adjacent to the City boundary and lying south of Moore's Creek. The most recent report was published on September 10, 2004. The Renaissance Planning Group served as the design consultant for the project.
