Schnabel Engineering Associates is an engineering firm involved in area water-supply projects.
Schnabel was retained in September 2009 by the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority to prepare a preliminary design for the new Ragged Mountain Dam. This contract was worth $1.3 million. The firm replaces Gannett Fleming, which worked during 2007-2008 on the preliminary dam design and geotechnical research before the project was temporarily halted in August 2008.[1]
Schnabel may also be retained to prepare a cost estimate for raising the Ragged Mountain Dam, an option City Council has asked be studied[2].
Chris Webster is a principal of the firm and will serve as the Project Administrator. Webster works in the firm's Charlottesville office[3].
