Samuel Augustus Morris (1901-1967) was a former vice-mayor and member of Charlottesville City Council and former partner of Dettor, Edwards, and Morris - a wholesale distribution company formed in 1929 and operated until 1998 in Ivy.

Born May 31, 1901, in Charlottesville, Sam was the son of Samuel H. and Wilmonia Monie J. (née Smith) Morris and brother of Virginia Ruth Morris . Sam was a member of of the Charlottesville Lions Club and a member of the First Christian Church.

Morris died in a Miami, Florida hospital on June 13, 1967. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery.[1]
