New Mountain Capital announced in July 2011 that it acquired a majority interest in SNL. Terms were not named, but SNL founder Reid Nagle will be the second-largest shareholder as a result. [1] The company will remain headquartered in Charlottesville. [2]
McGraw Hill Financial acquisition
The company was purchased by McGraw Hill Financial in July 2015 for $2.2 billion. [3]
After the McGraw Hill Financial acquisition, SNL merged with S&P Capital IQ to form S&P Global Market Intelligence.[4]
Following a shareholder vote in April 2016, McGraw Hill Financial was rebranded as S&P Global.[5]
