On April 5, 2006, the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to end consideration of the Ruckersville Parkway as part of the Places29 Master Plan for Route 29 North. This project will not get further consideration without support by the Board of Supervisors. However, a portion of the proposed roadway, an unpaved stretch of Dickerson Road north of the roadway, is scheduled for paving and is on the County's Six Year Secondary Plan. |

Project details
The Ruckersville Parkway is a proposal to build a limited access road connecting the urban ring of Albemarle County with the fast growing commercial centers of Greene County. The idea was the brainchild of former Delegate Mitch Van Yahres and former City Manager Bern Ewert.
The stated purpose was to serve as an alternative to the proposed Western US 29 Bypass. The project would have used some of the right of way already purchased for that project.
