Dr. Robert C. Pianta is the Dean of the University of Virginia's Curry School of Education, Novartis Professor of Education, Founding Director of the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL), Professor of Psychology at UVa's College of Arts & Sciences, and Director of the National Center for Research in Early Childhood Education. Pianta is the creator of the Classroom Assessment Scoring System™ (CLASS), an observational assessment of teacher-student interactions. {{As of|2014}, the CLASS program was used by every Head Start program in the United States.[1] Pianta is also a co-founder of Teachstone.[2]
