Robert E. Carter (1862 - 1920) was the foreman of construction for McGuffey School and the city library. He worked for the Charlottesville Lumber Company for a dozen years. [1]

Biography
Carter was born on July 27, 1862 near Red Hill and was the son of Thomas Perry Carter. He married Annie Gleason and they had eight children. He died at his home at 477 Park Street. [1]
