The Rivanna Master Naturalists (RMN) is a volunteer program that trains and organizes people to participate as volunteers in education, citizen science, and stewardship projects that benefit the natural environment. The RMN is based near Charlottesville, but active in Albemarle, Fluvanna, Louisa and Nelson counties. It is just one of 30 Virginia Master Naturalist (VMN) chapters which certify members. Members benefit from a lively online network that constantly introduces new projects, local lectures and online opportunities for advancing training.

The VMN program is jointly sponsored by the: Virginia Cooperative Extension, Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, Virginia Department of Forestry, Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, Virginia Museum of Natural History, and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science's Center for Coastal Resources Management. The program is housed within the Virginia Cooperative Extension at Virginia Tech.[1]
