The Upper (circa 1885) and Lower (circa 1908) Ragged Mountain Dams create the Ragged Mountain Reservoir, a key component of the Charlottesville-Albemarle urban water supply maintained by the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority.
Water Supply Plan
A plan to build a new Ragged Mountain Dam at the reservoir is currently under review as part of the 50-year community water supply plan (2005-2055).
In History
The Lower Ragged Mountain Dam was originally known as Mayo's Rock Dam.[1]
