Poggio a Caiano is one of Charlottesville's Sister Cities.

It is a town of about 10,000 located in the Province of Prato, in the Tuscany region of Italy. The connection between Charlottesville and the town relates to the connection between Thomas Jefferson and italian physician Fillipo Mazzei.

The sister city relationship was established in 1977. A delegation of government officials visited in June 2017 to commemorate the twinning. [1]
