The Oakland School is a boarding and day school for children aged 6 to 14 who have learning disabilities.

Background

The school is located on a 450-acre estate in Boyd Tavern in eastern Albemarle County and has the capacity for up to 85 children. [1] It was founded by Margaret Shephard in 1950 and expanded to be a year-round facility in 1967. [2] [3]
