Events

  • 1904 – Civil suits amounting to more than $15,000 are filed against J. Samuel McCue. The plaintiffs included Jefferson National Bank who sought $8,000. [1]
  • 1924 – John A. Brown shot and killed Henry Robertson when the latter came to the door of Brown's Schuyler Moon house near Scottsville. Robertson asked for food and would not leave when asked. Brown was arraigned and released on bail of $500. Scottsville Mayor Jackson Beal served as coroner. [2]
  • 1947 – Opening statements are given in Madison County Circuit Court in the trial of 15-year-old Floyd Butler, accused of murdering his father on September 6. Butler is represented by Charlottesville attorneys E.C. Wingfield and John M. Hamlet, Jr. [3]
