The Northside Library is a branch of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library system that opened at a new location on Rio Road on March 16, 2015. It previously was housed in the Albemarle Square shopping center on February 21.

History

The Albemarle Square branch opened on December 14, 1991 after $210,000 was spent to renovate a space formerly housed by Drug Fair. The county has purchased a building on the other side of U.S. 29 to serve as a replacement library.

New building

Kenbridge Construction of Lunenburg County was the lowest bidder with a $7 million bid. [1]

Work had been expected to be completed by October 2014 but that has been delayed with occupancy in the new location now expected for March 2015. [2]
