Ned Harrison

Ned Harrison was a man who operated a gate that prevented pedestrians, horses, and horse-drawn carriages from crossing the railroad tracks that separated the town of Charlottesville with the Belmont-Carlton neighborhood. He is believed to have kept a bag of peppermint candy to give to children who were waiting to cross the tracks. [1]
