Murray High School is a charter high school that gets its name from [[Virginia L. Murray Elementary]], where the school was originally based when founded in [[1988]]. The school moved to its current location in 1990 and shares its site with the Enterprise Center and the Albemarle Resource Center (ARC).<ref name="Murray" /> One of four Virginia charter schools, Murray became the first public Glasser Quality High School in 2001. William Glasser was an educator and psychologist who believed strongly that the most productive schools would be those in which students and educators maintained a "relationship built on trust and respect." Murray High School is an Albemarle County public high school that teaches grades nine through twelve. Murray High School accepts students from all feeder patterns and reserves three spaces for Charlottesville city students annually. As of 2012 Murray enrolled 102 students with a capacity for 110 and employs 20 staff and faculty members.[1]
Albemarle County is considering merging the school with the Community Public Charter School. [2]
