Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarlewas founded in 1977 by Mary Updike to prepare dinners for residents of Charlottesville and Albemarle County. As of January of 2017, the organization served around 260 meals a week.[1] Updike was the subject of one of the paintings of the famous local artist Frances Brand.
