Project Details

McIntire Road Extended is the name given to the City of Charlottesville's Portion of Meadowcreek Parkway. The project was split into two to allow both communities to accrue separate pools of money for the project. One of the conditions of City Council is that the road cannot be built without a grade-separated interchange at its intersection with Route 250. That project is currently going through the design process.

The project's stated purpose is to:

  1. Improve traffic flow between Rio Road (Route 631) and Route 250
  2. Provide more direct access to and from the Charlottesville downtown area

Status

The City Council granted construction easement to VDOT on October 1, 2007, to be handed over after VDOT completes acquisition of replacement parkland, and upon final approval of a storm water management system. Council also attached a statement of expectations they require from Albemarle County. VDOT reported in November 2007 that the City will be able to fully fund their portion of the road.
