McGuffey Park is a 1.1 acre park next to the McGuffey Art Center at Second Street N.W. and Jefferson Street. A 2007 renovation brought a new playground and other features, and was funded by a group called McGuffey Friends. The Charlottesville Community Design Center also contributed to the renovation[1].

The city's comprehensive plan classifies McGuffey Park as an 'urban' park[2].

Transaction history

In 1945, the city donated to the land to the Charlottesville School Board. In 1974, the School Board gave the land as well as the McGuffey School as a gift to form the park and art center[1].
