Biographical Information

Mary McIntyre is a candidate in the 2017 election for the Albemarle County School Board.

McIntyre moved to Albemarle County in 2016 with her husband and two children, who attend Woodbrook Elementary School. She is currently employed as a literacy specialist at Agnor-Hurt Elementary School. She has said that she will resign before joining the county School Board, per Virginia law.[1]

McIntyre has taught at public schools in North Carolina, Hawaii and Virginia, and at a Department of Defense Dependent School in Germany. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and the University of Michigan, respectively. She expects to receive another master’s degree in curriculum studies for literacy specialists from the University of Hawaii-Manoa in May.[2]
