Events
- 1865 – General Custer was met by the mayor and other prominent citizens, who surrendered the town to him. For three days, Union cavalry under the command of general Philip H. Sheridan occupied Charlottesville and the University of Virginia. Union troopers burned the Woolen Mills but, apart from widespread foraging and some looting, the town and college remained intact. - 1970 – Charlottesville holds referendum on merger with Albemarle County. [1]
- 2003 – Charlottesville City Council honors Rich Collins for his service as chair of the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority [2]
- 2018 – Adam Hastings resigns from the Charlottesville School Board [3]
