What is cvillepedia?

cvillepedia is a resource on government and the community in Albemarle County and Charlottesville, and we need your help!

Have you ever wondered what the relationship is between the City of Charlottesville and the Rivanna Water and Sewer Authority? Why are the Central Grounds for the University of Virginia technically in Albemarle County? Why do County residents pay taxes to the City of Charlottesville through the revenue sharing agreeement? The answer to these questions can often be hard to find.

That's where cvillepedia comes in. cvillepedia is a wiki hosted by Charlottesville Tomorrow to document the history and explain the structure of civic life in Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The goal is to create a destination for all residents to learn about our community.

"Wherever the people are well informed they can be trusted with their own government; that whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them to rights.” Thomas Jefferson, 1789
