1999 Election

Dorrier was nominated by the Albemarle County Democratic Party on June 2, 1999[3]. His opponent was former Albemarle County Sheriff Terry Hawkins. One of the major issues that year was growth in the County.

"My vision is to have a community with planned growth and a high quality of life," Dorrier told the Daily Progress[4]. He said one of his first priorities if elected would be to set up a joint meeting with the Charlottesville City Council to discuss regional cooperation on the issue.
