Lawrence Burruss

Lawrence Burruss (September 29, 1929  -  August 16, 2016) was appointed to the Charlottesville School Board from 1982 to 1991, representing the Belmont neighborhood. [1]

Lawrence R. Burruss was born in Boonesville, Va., he was the ninth of 14 children of the late Willie Warren Burruss and Virginia Wood Burruss.

Lawrence was Vice President and CEO of Monticello Dairy, Inc., working there for 48 years, owner of Stoney’s Grocery, Inc. for 20 years, past member of Local Milk Commission Board, President of the Virginia Dairy Products Association, member of CATEC Board, member of Charlottesville School Board, President of the Belmont Neighborhood Association, Vice Chairman of the CDBG Task Force for the City of Charlottesville, and member of Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church where he served on several Boards.[2]

Lawrence was married to Joanne B. Burruss. Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens.
