Belmont resident Knott moved to Charlottesville in 2005 from Austin, Texas. She is landscape architect with John Milner Associates. She received a BA in Anthropology and History from the University of Alabama in 1981, a BA in landscape architecture from Louisiana State University in 1991, and a masters in historic preservation from the University of Texas in 2004. Knott has served on the board of directors for [[Preservation Piedmont]] since 2011 and helps run their Document Before Demolish program.
