L. Gene Harding served as the Charlottesville city treasurer for nearly four decades. [1]

Background

Harding was appointed to the position in 1956. In 1969, Harding faced Republican Roy "Ted" Huntington in the general election and won with 6,132 votes to 1,774. He was a member of the Charlottesville Democratic Committee. [1]
