Jury Yates Brown (1866 – 1942), was a former member of the city council and for nearly 40 years a Charlottesville businessman.
His services with the city began in 1922. In all he served through two forms of government – the Modified Commission Form composed of a three member city council and with five members. Brown was one of three commissioners to serve under the new form of government, elected in 1922. Elected to the new city council composed of five members in the 1928 election.[1]
