Events
- 1807 – a Richmond grand jury indicted former Vice President Aaron Burr on charges of “high misdemeanor” and treason, a crime punishable by death. Thomas Jefferson, believed that Burr's treason was obvious, appointed William Wirt as prosecuting attorney in Aaron Burr's treason trial. The trial began on August 3 before the United States Circuit court at Richmond. Burr was acquitted of all charges on September 1.
