Deaths
- 1826 – Thomas Jefferson, fifty years after the Declaration of Independence was approved. His remains were buried at Monticello, under an epitaph that he wrote: HERE WAS BURIED THOMAS JEFFERSON, AUTHOR OF THE DECLARATION OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE, OF THE STATUTE OF VIRGINIA FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM, AND FATHER OF THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA.
- 1962 – Bland Harris dies in Petersburg, Virginia. A resident of Nelson County, Harris served in World War II and had his portrait photograph included within the Holsinger Studio Collection.
Births
- 1925 – Ed Roseberry is born in Roanoke, Virginia. An alumnus of the University of Virginia, Rosberry became a local freelance photographer and historian who was well-known for methodically documenting several decades of life in Charlottesville and Albemarle County, once being described by Coy Barefoot as the "Rufus Holsinger of the second half of the 20th century."
