- 1991 – City Council held a public hearing on the levying of fees on dumpsters. At the time, the cost of trash collection was covered by the city's general fund. [1]

Deaths
- 2022 – Randy Jones dies and is later buried in Richmond. An avid sports fan, Jones spent much of his time in Charlottesville, working merchandise inventory at the local McDonald's as well as holding a job at Mel's Cafe.
