James C. Norwood was the Director of Economic Development for the Scottsville Community Chamber of Commerce.[1] and a Republican candidate for the Scottsville District seat on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors in 2011.

Biography

Education

Norwood received his BA in Economics from the University of New England, where he also is currently a member of the Board of Trustees.[2]

Military

Norwood served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict.[3]

Community Involvement

Norwood has served as the president of the Charlottesville American Heart Association and president of the Charlottesville Regional American Cancer Society. Norwood also served as Economic Development Director for the Scottsville Chamber of Commerce from November 2009 to December 2010[citation needed].

2011 election

In the 2011 election, Norwood is a Republican candidate for the Albemarle Board of Supervisors for the Scottsville District seat being vacated by retiring Lindsay Dorrier. His opponent is Scottsville Attorney, Christopher J. Dumler. He has called for the extension of Charlottesville Area Transit to Scottsville[4] and for redeveloping the abandoned Scottsville tire factory as a center for jobs. [5]
