Hydraulic Road runs from U.S. 250 at the intersection of Rugby Road Extended, crosses U.S. Route 29, and continues northward until it ends at its intersection with Earlysville Road and West Rio Road.

Within the city, the road is one of Charlottesville's Entrance Corridors.

U.S. 29 intersection

A grade-separated interchange at Hydraulic and U.S. Route 29 is one of many ideas being considered as city, county and regional officials seek to create a Smart Scale application in 2018. The planning project is one of the final of the Route 29 Solutions. [1]
