Grove Square Phase 1
Grove Square Phase 1 was the name of one of four blocks of mixed-use development proposed for development in Charlottesville's Fifeville neighborhood near the University of Virginia's Medical Center. The developer was Mitchell/Mathews Architects and Urban Planners.
The land was purchased by the University of Virginia in late August 2016. [1]

Details
This block of Grove Square is 1.968 acres large. The property is zoned M-1 (industrial) with MU-CH zoning at the eastern end of the property).
An 8,104 square foot building currently exists at the site along with 172 parking spaces on a surface lot.
In this phase of development, the existing building will be demolished and replaced with an 8 story office building with structured parking. Once complete, the M1 portion of the site will have 113,500 square feet of office space and 928 parking spaces. [2]
Status
A final site plan was approved by Ebony Walden of Charlottesville Department of Neighborhood Development Services in the summer of 2011. However, the developer has not yet applied for a building permit. [3]
UVa has not publicly stated what they plan to do with the property. [citation needed]
