The Places29 Master Plan] calls for a grade separated interchange at Rio Road and U.S. 29. The project is in the long-range transportation plan.

The project is once again a possibility due to it beings one of the recommendations of the Route 29 Advisory Panel. [1] It has a preliminary cost estimate of $81 million.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board will decide whether to appropriate funding to the project in June 2014.
