Improvements

A plan to make road improvements and add multi-modal facilities is currently under construction.

An asphalt pedestrian pathway on the west side of the Road is being replaced with a five-foot wide concrete sidewalk with a curb and gutter. Additionally, four pedestrian crossings are being added. [2]

The road has been closed to through traffic during construction but is partially reopened. VDOT has planned a completion date of September 23, 2011. [2]
