City Manager Gary O'Connell

Gary O'Connell will become Executive Director of the Albemarle County Service Authority on May 1, 2010[1]. Previously O'Connell was the City Manager of Charlottesville from November 1995 until 2010. His last day on the job will be April 12, 2010[2]

Biography

O'Connell holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Tennessee, and is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College.

Before coming to Charlottesville, O'Connell served six years as Assistsnt City Manager of Maryville, Tennessee. In Charlottesville, prior to becoming City Manager, he served 14 years as Deputy City Manager.

O'Connell is married with three children.

O'Connell took medical leave for a non-life-threatening condition beginning October 22, 2009, and is expected to return before November 23[3]
