Francis L. "Frank" Buck served as Mayor of Charlottesville from 1980 to 1988. [1] He broke a long-standing tradition on City Council by holding the position for four consecutive terms.

Buck presided over the bail-out of the Omni Hotel, the creation of the revenue sharing agreement with Albemarle County and the creation of Darden Towe Park. [2]

In 2010, he was served president of the board of directors for the Ash Lawn-Highland Opera Festival[3]
