Francis L. "Frank" Buck served as Mayor of Charlottesville from 1980 to 1988. [1] He broke a long-standing tradition on City Council by holding the position for four consecutive terms.
Buck presided over the bail-out of the Omni Hotel, the creation of the revenue sharing agreement with Albemarle County and the creation of Darden Towe Park.[2]. As of 2011, he is president of the board of directors for the Ash Lawn-Highland Opera Festival[3]
2010 incident
Buck was arrested[4] on November 11, 2010 after allegedly assaulting a client following an unsuccessful court case. The charges were dropped in March 2011.[5]
