Background

Under one system, motorists enter a 7 to 10 digit number on a keypad upon entering a parking garage. A camera photographs the license plate number and associates the two numbers together. The gates go up and the motorist parks. When the driver is ready to leave the lot, he or she pays at a kiosk. When leaving the gate, the camera recognizes the license plate again, checks to make sure payment is made, and then lifts the gates. The goal is to have no paper tickets and speed up ingress and egress. [1]
