Dorothy Emerson is one of several people depicted by Charlottesville folk artist Frances Brand as part of her "Firsts" series.
Brand selected Emerson because of her extensive experience as a volunteer and for her work with Church Women United, Meals On Wheels. She was also missionary in India.
