The Dogwood Vietnam Memorial, located in the eastern portion of McIntyre Park, was erected in 1966. It is considered by some to be the first Vietnam memorial in the country[1].

The proposed 250 Interchange of the Meadowcreek Parkway may impact the current location of the Dogwood Vietnam Memorial. The City has raised the possibility of moving the memorial, but some veterans groups are opposed to this solution[2]. Currently, the memorial is listed as a landmark of historic significance for compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The terms of the act must be met before the road project is approved.
